India’s indigenous missile tracker vessel is now heading to sea trials before operational use by the Indian Navy. The vessel was constructed in Vishakapatnam under the Project VC 11184. No formal name has been assigned to the vessel so far, but is expected to be announced after the trials are completed.
The development of the vessel was started four years ago under deep secrecy. It is equipped with large dome radars and other electronic systems that will allow tracking of any incoming threats from very long range.
The vessel will support India’s ambitious plan of Advanced Air Defense System. During the trials, various components will be tested, including the ability to track threats.
