In a successful encounter operation on Monday, security forces gunned down 14 Naxals in Sukma, Chhattisgarh. A senior cadre and a woman were reported to be injured.
The encounter operation was launched at around 6:15 a.m near the Miltkatong forest area. The encounter was carried out by District Reserve Guard (DRG) of the Chhattisgarh Police force. The DRG are specially trained to fight the Maoists in the jungles.
“The state government has given a strong message to Naxals that they should join the mainstream. Either they should surrender or security forces are ready to finish them. Now there is no way left for them,” said Chief Minister Raman Singh.
This is one of the biggest anti-Naxal encounter operations of this year.
