Bharat Electronics Limited gets Rs. 9,200 crore missile deal

India’s state-owned Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has bagged the order for missiles at an estimated budget of Rs 9,200 Crores. The order was awarded by the Ministry of Defense for the supply seven Long-range Surface-to-air Missile (LRSAM) systems.

BEL has recently entered into a contract with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited for the supply of the missile systems. The supply is for seven warships, which the shipyards are making for the Indian Navy.

LRSAM is an advanced missile defense system which is capable of intercepting and destroying aerial targets like subsonic & supersonic missiles, fighter aircraft, maritime patrolling aircraft (MPA), helicopter and sea-skimming missiles.

The company is also expecting an order for the supply of Akash Air Defense System.
