Security forces on Wednesday gunned down two militants in Kashmir. The encounter broke out in the morning in an area near Anantnag district.
Per the reports, the terrorists were from Lashkar-e-Taiba militant outfit. The operation was launched after receiving information regarding the presence of some militants in a house at Mehman Mohalla, Lal Chowk.
“This was a difficult operation as it was in a crowded locality. All civilians were evacuated and the room intervention team completed the operation. There was no collateral damage,” said Swayam Prakash Pani, Inspector General of Kashmir Police.
Notably, this is the first operation in Anantnag in the last 12 years.
