The Indian Army is now all set to take the delivery of its upcoming South Korean Artillery Gun System “K-9 Vajra” by September.
It is expected that a full regiment of K-9 Vajra will be ready by the third quarter of 2019. A regiment includes nearly 18 Gun Systems.
The K-9 Vajra is an armored mounted self-propelled artillery Gun System developed by Hanwa Techwin of South Korea. In 2017, the Hanwa Techwin Company signed an agreement with Indian Company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for local manufacturing of the system in India under the “Make in India” initiative.
K-9 Vajra-T is a 155-mm/52-calibre self-propelled howitzer which can hit targets at a distance of 45 km.
