For the first time in history, the Indian Air Force will be participating in the Pitch Black 2018 Exercise in Australia. Pitch Black is a biennial multi-national large force warfare exercise hosted by Australia.

IAF already kicked off its journey for the exercise last week. A fleet consisting of 145 air-warriors including Garud team, Four SU-30MKI, one C-130 and one C-17 started off its journey from Kalaikunda Air Force Station.

During the transit, the SU-30MKIs were refueled by IL-78MKI tankers over the Bay of Bengal, and then they stopped at an Indonesian Air Force Base. In the final leg, SU-30MKI will be refueled in the air for the first time by RAAF KC-30A.
