The United States has recently cleared the deck of $930 million for the sale of six Boeing AH-64E Apache attack helicopters and its related equipment. Beside the choppers, it also includes Hellfire and Stinger missiles.
The U.S. State Department clearance came after India’s request for General Electric engines, AN/APG-78 fire control radars and other radar equipment. Adding to that, India also requested seven Apache’s Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor systems and Embedded GPS Inertial Navigation Systems.
India will also buy Hellfire Longbow air-to-surface anti-armour missiles, Stinger air-to-air missiles, rockets and ammunition for 30 mm cannons.
Meanwhile, Tata also completed the fabrication of the first Ah64 airframe.
