One of India’s top cops behind the hunting down of the most wanted Veerappan received a notable appointment. Retired IPS officer K Vijay Kumar has been appointed as an advisor to the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. He will work along IAS officer BB Vyas who is the Chief Secretary of the state.
K Vijay Kumar is well known for the operation he led against the notorious dacoit Veerappan when he was heading the Special Task Force of Tamil Nadu in 2004. The task force was responsible for killing Veerappan in Operation Cocoon.
He last served in Ministry of Home Affairs as senior security adviser. His expertise in curbing down non-state actors will likely help the administration of Kashmir.
