Indian Air Force first LCA Tejas Squadron “No-45 The Flying Daggers” will now shift its location to Sulur Air Force station from the Present Banglore Air Force station. The Sulur Air Force station is located in Tamil Naidu and comes under the Southern Air Command.
The 45 Squadron which earlier operated the Mig-21BIS, was based in Nalia in Gujarat. It was selected as the first squadron for inducting the Tejas. It was under the command of Grp Capt. Madhav Rangachari. The Tejas was inducted into the squadron in 2015 at HAL airport.
The Sulur Airbase has enough resource to support Tejas operations. An LCA simulator to train new fighter pilots has also been installed.
