The upgraded variant of the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas i.e Mk-2 is now renamed a Medium Weight Fighter (MWF).
In the recent Gaganshakti Exercise 2018, the Tejas carried out more than 100s of sorties and performed extremely well without any glitches. The current load capacity of Tejas classifies the aircraft into the “Light Category.” It is able to carry a load of 3 tons.
The upgraded variant of Tejas i.e Mk-2, which is under the development pipeline will carry more loads with much better tech and will make the Tejas a medium combat aircraft. Currently, the project is on paper only and IAF is asking for some additional changes that can delay the program more.
