Russia’s helicopter firm Rostec State Corporation has delivered six Mi-17-1V helicopters to India after extensive overhaulings. The overhauled Mi-17s are part of Border Security Force fleet.
The overhauling was performed by Rostec State Corporation at Novosibirsk Aircraft Repair Plant (NARP) in Russia. The overhauling included repairing of avionics, hydraulics, and change of engine.
This was the first contract of BSF Mi-17 overhauling to Russian Helicopters. Just last year, the BSF raised its first rotary wing by inducting Mi-17s with pilots from the Indian Air Force.
Currently, the MI-17s are the backbone of Indian Armed Forces and is employed to perform various roles.
