The elite National Security Guards (NSG), also known as black cat commando, has been now deployed in Kashmir Valley for anti-terror operations. Currently, they are getting trained at BSF Camp at Humhaha near Srinagar.
The NSG team is equipped with snipers, radar, and other equipment as well. NSG has a rich experience in anti-terror operations in close quarter areas.
There is also a rise in the presence of militants in urban areas which possess a great threat. The NSG deployment is seen as a measure to counter the threat.
NSG was established in 1984, following Operation Blue Star. The National Security Guard is a special unit of the Indian Special Forces under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
