Malabar exercise to kick off

June 04, 2018

One of the world’s biggest naval exercises involving big naval powers like India, US and Japan will be kicking off this week. The exercise is named as Malabar and is an annual trilateral naval exercise which will be conducted this time off the coast of Guam in the Philippine Sea from June 6 to June 15.

The exercise is also seen as the preparedness of the navies against the increasing muscle power of the Chinese Navy in the region.

The exercise is aimed at mastering high-end warfighting skillsets which include combined carrier strike group operations, maritime patrol and reconnaissance operations, surface and anti-submarine warfare, medical operations, damage control, helicopter operations and other simulated operations.
