In a bid to increase the punch of the frontline combat aircraft, the Su30mki of the Indian Air Force, India has now decided to upgrade the aircraft with indigenously developed systems.
As per reports, India is now in discussion with Russian companies to mid-upgrade nearly 44 Sukhois. It will include integration of Russian, western and indigenously developed systems. Adding to that, it will also get five new missiles.
Indian HAL will play a bigger role in the upgrade as they are actively involved in the project and are the ones who are overhauling the aircraft.
India is the largest operator of Sukhoi aircraft outside Russia and it maintains a fleet of around 240 Su30mki. A few more are in order as well.
