Today in a big milestone, the Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL) successfully conducted ground trials of first green helicopter ALH Dhruv.
The trial was conducted on Thursday by Rotary Wing R&D Centre which is a part of HAL that looks after the development and testing of helicopters. The Green ALH Dhruv is one of its kind, as it is very economical and totally Indian-made.
The HAL has also signed a contract with Indian Coast Guard Performance Based Logistics (PBL) support for five years after the delivery of Dhrub MKIII Helicopters.
ICG performs various roles, especially Search and Rescue (SAR), casualty evacuation, armed patrol and coastal surveillance.
