India is now set to finalize the deal for the procurement of SPIKE Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) with Israel. The deal was almost canceled this year but was revived due to urgent requirements of the armed forces.
The deal is of worth $500 million and will be purchased through the government-to-government line. The deal may get a green signal when Israel Defense Director-General Udi Adam visits India to attend the annual joint working group discussion on joint defense cooperation.
Indian Army will equip all its 82 infantry battalions and 44 mechanized infantry units. The third generation Spike ATGM has a strike range of over 2.5 km and fire-and-forget capabilities.
