India’s Light Combat Aircraft Tejas is now all set to be equipped with EL/M-2052 Active Electronically Scanning Array (AESA) Radar to boost its capabilities. The radar will be supplied by Israeli firm ELTA.
It is expected that nearly 83 AESA radars will be procured from the Israeli firm for a fleet of 83 Tejas. The contract is yet to be finalized but the ELTA has already won the tender by beating French firm Thales. The procurement tender was issued in 2016 though and the final negotiations are underway.
The EL/M-2052 Active Electronically Scanning Array (AESA) array is also installed in the Jaguar Darin-III. The upgraded variant Tejas Mark1-A will be equipped with AESA radar that will increase its BVR and WVR fighting capabilities.
