The Russian aviation major company Ilyushin will be repairing the damaged IL-38 of the Indian Navy. The aircraft a few days made an emergency landing at Moscow’s Zhukovsky airport in Russia.
Russian firm Ilyushin, who manufactures the IL-38 aircraft has assured that it will repair the damaged aircraft within the next 30 days and will make it flyable. The message has already been conveyed to the naval headquarters.
The aircraft was in Russia for Overhaul (OH) and Mid Life Upgradation (MLU) when the incident happened though no Indian crew was on board. It was being flown by Russian test pilots as part of the initial flight test.
The Indian Navy inducted the aircraft in 1977 for reconnaissance purposes. It can also be employed for anti-ship missions.
