New landing craft utility MK-IV inducted into the Indian Navy

The Indian Navy yet again has inducted a new landing craft utility vessel L54. It was inducted at Port Blair by Vice Admiral GS Pabby, AVSM, VSM and Chief of Materiel. The ship was made under the “Make in India” initiative. It will be commanded by Lieutenant Commander Munish Sethi.

The ship was indigenously developed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, Kolkata. It is a landing craft vessel which is capable of carrying 830 tons of weight and can also carry tanks, IFV and much more.

The vessel is equipped with the latest equipment and advanced systems like Integrated Bridge System (IBS) and Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) which is very important in amphibious warfare or littoral warfare.
