IAF planning to have Meteor missile for Tejas

May 14, 2018

The Indian Air Force is planning to have the Meteor-class Beyond Visual Range Missile installed in the Tejas Mk1A. This will increase the capabilities of the upgraded Tejas variant.

The IAF has already placed an order for 83 Mark 1A Light Combat Aircraft to Hindustan Aeronautical Limited. If everything goes well, HAL may be asked to integrate the missile on the Tejas platform.

With the combination of AESA radar and the Meteor missile, the Tejas will be a potent platform to carry out missions like point air defense, escorting, combat air patrol and much more. The meteor is a 100km range missile developed by MBDA missile system. The missile is capable of being operated in any environmental condition.
