May 11, 2018

The Indian Navy has deployed three vessels for the “Malabar Exercise 2018”. The vessels will be taking part in the naval drill along with the US and Japanese navies off Guam in the Pacific Ocean. Currently, the vessels are in Singapore.

The naval exercise is one of the biggest naval exercises in the region which is also seen as a countermeasure against the growing influence of China in the Indian Ocean.

“In a way, our engagement with the region is growing with regular exercises,”-Jawed Ashraf, India’s High Commissioner to Singapore.

Adding to that, one naval vessel INS Sahyadri will be taking part in the RIMPAC exercise. The RIMPAC (Rim of Pacific Exercise) is a big naval exercise which involved navies from various countries and is conducted in the ocean around Hawaii.
