The Indian Army is now all set to receive the first batch of K9 VAJRA-T by months end. Nearly 25 K9 Vajra-T gun systems will be delivered by Larsen and Toubro (L&T).
The Indian Defense Ministry had contracted Larsen and Toubro for the supply of 100 guns at a cost of Rs 4,500 crore. Out of 100, 25 will be delivered by this month and the remaining will be delivered on time.
In 2016, India cleared the deal for the purchase of the K9 VAJRA-T from South Korea under which the L&T will be making the system in India under the “Make in India” initiative.
K-9 Vajra-T”, is a 155-mm/52-calibre self-propelled howitzer which can hit targets at a distance of 45 km.
