In a big milestone, India has successfully carried out a test of the SFDR surface-to-air missile for the first time. The missile has nozzle less booster and is indigenously developed by state-owned Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
The test was carried out by DRDO as part of the initial flight trials to test its compatibility. A few more tests are planned, and after that, it will be ready for induction. It is to be noted, in India a particular system has to go through rigorous trials which also includes user trials.
The missile is also termed as desi version of Meteor missile and is capable of attaining a speed of Mach 3 in intended trajectory. The range of the missile is yet to be revealed.
