As per the latest report, the Indian Air Force is now planning to deploy fighter aircraft in Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal. This will be first time since World War II.
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are located in a very strategic location that can help the Indian Air Force to keep a constant vigil on the Chinese movements near the Malacaa, Sunda and Lumbok straits. Both the straits connect the Indian Ocean to the South China Sea and is also the busiest route in the region.
However, the Air Force has already deployed fighters in the region though that was on a temporary basis and not on a permanent basis.
