As per the latest reports, Hindustan Aeronautical Limited has offered 40 more Su-30mki’s to the Indian Air Force at a much lower rate than Rafale. As per HAL, it can offer a Sukhoi at just Rs 4.25 billion which is one-third the cost of the Rafale that costs around Rs 11.25 billion.
Sukhoi is the frontline combat aircraft of the Indian Airforce which is locally made by HAL under the license from Russia. The current offer of HAL seems to be very cheap and also it can help the Indian Air Force to sort out its problem of low fighter squadrons.
HAL is also working on modifying 40 Sukhois to enable them to carry Brahmos supersonic cruise missiles.
