GRSE to deliver frigates on time to Navy following crane collapse

May 16, 2018

Even after the collapse of the 250-ton ‘goliath’ crane, the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) have assured that it will be delivering the new frigates on time without any delays. GRSE is currently building three stealth frigates for the Indian Navy.

“There will be no effect in terms of construction of three Project 17A frigates for the Navy,” said Rear Admiral VK Saxena (retired). The first delivery of the vessel will be in 2023 and as per GRSE, there is nothing under wraps and everything is clear.

Just a few weeks back, a 250-ton ‘goliath’ crane collapsed in the shipyard where the construction was happening and speculations were made that it will delay the production of the frigates as it was the major heavy lifter crane.
