DRDO fast tracks development of Ghatak UCAV

May 11, 2018

The state-owned Defense Research and Development Organization has fast-tracked the development of Unmanned Aerial Combat Vehicle “Ghatak” previously known as Aura.

It is DRDO’s ambitious project to equip the Indian forces with a fifth-generation stealth UAV to carry out strikes silently and without risking human lives. DRDO is also looking to install the indigenous KAVERI dry engine. It will be a truly “Make in India” product.

Currently, only a few countries have the technology for developing stealth UCAVs. Such platforms are also needed for the hour to pace up with the changing dynamics of warfare where the wars will be fought unmanned without deploying humans on the battlefield.
