In another milestone, the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas test fired the Derby BVR missile. This brings the Tejas an inch closer to the Final Operational Clearance.
The 7th Series of the Limited Series Production “Tejas LSP-7” (KH-2017) conducted the trial from the western coast of the country while taking off from INS Hansa, Goa.
It was a significant trial where the Derby missile will now have the full operational capability. This was the third trial of the missile and it performed well and achieved the desired parameters.
Derby-I is one of the most advanced BVR Air to Air Missiles with a fire-and-forget guidance system and a top speed of Mach 4 and it can engage a target at 57km range.
