In a big success, security forces on Friday morning gunned down seven Maoists in an encounter. The gun battle broke out in the morning near the bordering areas of Chhattisgarh and Telangana. The seven dead Maoists also includes five women cadres.
Acting on specific input regarding the presence of the Maoists in the insurgency-hit Bijapur district area, the forces laid down the siege and started the gun battle. However,three jawans also suffered injuries but with no casualties.
“Based on a tip-off about the heavy presence of Maoists in the region, the security forces left on the search operation. The Naxals opened fire on the forces which were swiftly retaliated leading to a fierce encounter. So far we have recovered seven bodies of Maoists”, the Bastar DIG P Sunderraj said.
Arms and weapons were also recovered from the encounter site which included one self-loading rifle (SLR), 4 single barrel breach loading (SBBL) guns, one 303 rifles, 5 rocket launchers and explosives.
