In May 2017, BAE delivered two M777 howitzers for field and validation trials by the Indian Army and the trials will be completed next month. However, one gun barrel got damaged due to a shell bursting, though the inquiry is already going on to assess the reasons behind such accident.
The full-scale deliveries of the gun systems will commence starting June 2019.
