On Sunday, the Indian Air Force kicked off its two week-long war games “Exercise Gaganshakti”. This is a pan level exercise that is being conducted in the western and northeastern sector to validate the Indian Air Force fighting capabilities.
The first phase of the exercise started off at Pokhran firing range in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Dummy targets at Pokhran field firing range also known as “Chandan Field Range” have been made which will be hit by the combat aircraft and helicopter gunships.
The exercise will be carried out in two phases in which the first step will be conducted in the western part and the second phase will be in the northeast part. Nearly 1100 IAF aircraft including 15,000 personnel are taking part in the exercise.
