In a bid to boost the “Make in India” initiative, private firms will now provide key components for the indigenous Tejas Light Combat Aircraft.
The aircraft is developed by state-owned Hindustan Aeronautical Limited and is already looking for private players to provide key components which HAL has been importing from foreign so far. However, private players like L&T and BEL is already involved in providing key components.
HAL needs to deliver more than 200 Tejas aircraft to the Indian Air Force, but it has to rely on foreign firms to provide some keychains thus leading to delays. So, if an Indian firm provides some with India itself, it will boost the production rate as well as save money.
