In a big u-turn, the Jammu and Kashmir government has said that no case was filed against Major Aditya Kumar in the Shopian firing incident. The incident took place on January 27, where 3 civilians were killed after the Army retaliated against the stone pelting.
Major Aditya was blamed for the killings and news appeared about the filing of a FIR against him. In support of the Major, his father, who is also an officer, filed a case in the court. In the hearing, the J&K government said that no FIR was filed against him.
“Let the matter be listed for final disposal on April 24. In the meantime, there shall be no investigation on the basis of FIR till then,” a bench comprising of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud said.
