Recently the Indian Defense Ministry has sanctioned Rs 1,487 crore for boosting perimeter security. The money will be utilized for the fortification of Army bases in Kashmir, North East and in some other places.
The Ministry of Defence has also set a month deadline for the Army to carry out the task of fortification. The project will be monitored by Army headquarters.
The project is aimed at filling up security laps and safeguards bases from any terror attacks. The decision was taken after the security audit of military bases which was conducted after the recommendation of a committee headed by Lieutenant General Philip Campose following the Pathankot attack.
As per a report, nearly 3,000 military bases were declared sensitive which also includes 600 bases of the Army, Navy and Airforce as high sensitive bases.
