India gets access to Duqm port in Oman
In a big strategic advantage, India has gained access to Duqm port in Oman which has a great advantage. The Indian Navy will now have exclusive access to the port for military use and logistical support.
The report surfaced after the visit of India’s Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Oman. During the visit, he met Sultan of Oman Sayyid Qaboos bin Said Al Said. An MOU was also signed for military cooperation between both countries.
The port is located on the southeastern seaboard of Oman close to the Arabian sea and Indian ocean. It will provide a great strategic advantage to India in countering China and Pakistan. It is also close to the Chabahar port of Iran.
In recent times, India has increased its activities in the region as it also conducted a joint naval drill with the Royal Oman Navy as well as docked its submarine in the port.
