US looking to increase military ties with India
In a recent development, US ambassador, Kenneth Juster, put forward a proposal to scale up military ties with India. He proposed that both countries’ military liaison officers should be posted at each other’s combatant command.
“Over time, we should expand officer exchanges at our war colleges and our training facilities, and even at some point post, reciprocal military liaison officers at our respective combatant commands,” -Kenneth Juster said in a statement after taking over the office.
He also added that both countries should conduct regular joint multi exercises involving the armies, navies, marines and air forces of the two countries.
Last year, US Defense Secretary James Mattis also visited India in order to expand the relations in other areas of defense. He also wanted India to work with the US in the joint development of various weapon systems.
