US cuts off military aid for Pakistan

January 02, 2018

In a big move, the Donald Trump administration has cut off $255 million worth of military aid for Pakistan. The news came after Donald Trump tweeted about the displeasure regarding Pakistan’s efforts in fighting terrorism.

“The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!” Trump’s tweet reads.

It is known that Pakistan has always harbored terrorism and has defined terrorism as “good terrorism” and “bad terrorism”. In the name of fighting terrorism, it has taken millions worth of military aid but never employed the aid for a substantial outcome, but rather had been using it for proxies in Kashmir and Afghanistan. India and Afghanistan had been accusing the same but this time Trump took a strong step which is being lauded in India.
