Government gives nod to Project Varsha

Finally, in a big boost, the Indian government has given the nod to Phase-II of Project Varsha which will be housing India’s nuclear submarines.

As per the reports, the government cleared the procurement of 670 hectares of forest land in Rambilli off Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The land will be used for the second phase of Project Varsha which will be used as a Naval base for the nuclear submarines. The Naval base will include a strategic technical area, a command and control area, as well as a strategic institutional area.

The procurement of the land has been delayed since 2010 due to forest clearance issues that have since been solved and the Navy will now move ahead with its plan for the Naval base.

The DRDO is responsible for the task of creating infrastructure for the Strategic Force.
