Increasing its muscles, the Indian Air Force on Tuesday landed its transport aircraft An-32 at a strategically important Chinyalisaur airstrip which is located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand.
Air Commodore S Banerjee of the Central Air Command also expressed his happiness for conducting the successful landing on the airstrip.
The landing was conducted after three days efforts by the Indian Air Force. The airstrip is also located near the India-China Border.
The plans are to build a full-fledged airstrip in the region. In total, 95% of the work is already done and the ATC tower, a terminal and leveling of the area around the runway is underway and will be completed soon.
India is opening many advanced landing strips in the nearby region of the Indo-China border as part of its increasing military presence to counter growing threats from neighbors.
