The Indian Air Force is looking to install two layer air-defense system for Capital Delhi. The system will be capable of tracking and destroying missiles, aircraft and drones. The new air defense system would be installed to protect the vital installations in the Capital, which includes the President’s house, Parliament and other important assets.
The proposal will be discussed during the upcoming meet of Defense Acquisition Council which will be headed by the Defense Minister.
It is yet to be decided which system will be installed, but if speculation is made it will be Akash surface to air missile defense system which is one of the primary air defense assets of the Indian Air Force.
The Akash is a mid-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system being built by India’s state-owned Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
