India To Get Medium Range SAM by 2020
Indian Army will be inducting medium-range surface to air missiles by 2020. The system will be capable to shoot down targets like missiles, aircraft, drones and attack helicopters from a range of around 70 km.
The system will be procured from Israel though India already signed a deal with Israel for the missile system worth $2 billion.
In a previous statement, IAI Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Joseph Weiss said in a statement that “The current contracts represent an enormous expression of confidence by the government of India in IAI’s capabilities and advanced technologies, which are being developed with our local partners as part of the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ policy.”
The MRSAM system includes advanced phased-array radar, command and control systems, mobile launchers and missiles with advanced RF seekers.
