India To Restart Indo-US Air Exercise

August 28, 2017

In a bit to increase the ties, India is now planning to restart the Cope Joint Air Exercise. The exercise is a mock combat exercise between IAF and USAF.

The exercise was first started in 2004 and became an annual event for at least 5 years but later on was abandoned. The exercise helped both air forces in learning new tactics and understanding.

“In 2017, the United States expects to relaunch our bilateral Air Force exercise, COPE INDIA. The U.S. Air Force is also focused on expanding cooperation with the Indian Air Force on C-130J/C-17 transport aircraft capabilities, flight safety, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, and combat search and rescue,” the US Department of Defense said.

Last year India also participated in Red Flag exercise.
